BREWSTER – The Brewster and Oroville school districts are participating in a statewide pre-disaster mitigation plan.
The $1.1 million project, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, involves 35 school districts.
The two-year project will outline how state schools handle natural disasters, identify risks and develop a statewide mitigation plan.
Earthquakes, floods, tsunamis and other natural hazards will be studied.
A survey, at www.surveymonkey.com/s/Increase-Life-Safety-Before-Disaster-Strikes, is available through April 1, 2013, and will assist in developing the plan, the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction said.
