Obituary: Sharon Kay Townsend
Sharon Kay Townsend, age 61, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Sharon’s loving family and Pastor Chad Jeffreys were by her side at the time of passing.
Sharon was born on June 2, 1950, in Tillamook, Ore., to Everett and Violet Acord. As a young child Sharon moved to Grand Coulee, Wash., and then Omak where she attended junior high and high school.
In her sophomore year of high school Sharon met the man who would become her husband of 45 years, Eugene Townsend II. Together they had three boys, Gene III (Leslie), Robert (Paula) and Don (Sarah). Sharon and Gene also adopted one more child Alex from Romania. Sharon also traveled to Poland to bring Joanna to the USA to live with her adopted family.
Sharon was a very hard working wife, mother and grandmother of eight grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Nolan, Brittany, Zachary, Jake, Sam and Jonathan. Besides her family her biggest joy was her church and the church family. She loved playing the piano, singing and was an avid reader.
Sharon was preceded by in death by her mother, father and two brothers.
She leaves behind three brothers, three sisters, her husband, her four children, eight grandchildren and other family.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at noon at Omak Memorial Cemetery, 2517 Elmway.
Following the graveside service there will be a celebration of Sharon’s life at Abundant Life Fellowship Church 46 Hopfer Road in Omak, Wash.
