Obituary: Robert Charles Johnson
Robert Charles Johnson, 86, of Riverside, was born Aug. 9, 1925, to Charles R. Johnson and Eugenia Rosalie Reedy, in Spokane, Wash. He passed away Feb. 20, 2012.
He grew up in Spokane and Oroville and went to school in Spokane.
He served in the U.S. Navy for five years as a radioman aboard a ship during the Korean War.
He worked at Douglas Aircraft as a metal machinist, drove disabled children to and from school part-time for three years, worked at an orchard and the Shell gas station in Oroville, and worked with his father-in-law in a machine shop in Oroville. He also worked at Omak Wood Products
until his retirement.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, water skiing, camping and bowling. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Zelma J. (Ray) Johnson; son Gary Ray Johnson; daugther Kari Renee Bertram; grandchildren Meghan Bertram and Mathew Bertram; and sister Evelyn Brumbaugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Charles and Eugena Rosalie Johnson; a brother, Raymond H. Reedy; and a sister Betty Jean Murray.
At Bob’s request there will be no services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The Neptune Society was in charge of arrangements.
