Obituary: Carolyn Sue Wadkins
Carolyn Sue Wadkins of Malott, Wash., passed away on March 11 in the year of our Lord 2012. Sue, as she was affectionately called, was quick to correct everyone who tried to call her Carolyn.
Sue was born Nov. 23, 1944, in Arpelar, Okla., to Dee and Dora Howell. Sue shared her birthday with her twin, Virginia Lou, also known as Ginger Aos.
Escaping hard times in Oklahoma, the entire family left everything behind and traveled to California in 1960. In 1961, the family moved to Washington state where Sue attended Okanogan High School. Sue had various jobs over the years in the area.
In 1962, Sue met Alvin Wadkins. They later married in 1963.
Sue enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, wood working projects, and most of all her family.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Alvin Wadkins of Malott, Wash.; two children, Allen (Hurley) Wadkins of Stanton, Calif., and Sonya Bowers of Greenville, Texas; three grandchildren, Amanda Sue (Cody) Scholz, Alvin Wadkins II, and Aaronsyn Wadkins; two sisters, Vi (Gene) Harrison of Okanogan, Wash., and Ginger (Jim) Aos of Okanogan, Wash.; brother Nick Howell of Malott, Wash.; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m until 8 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on Elmway in Okanogan. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel.
Graveside Services will follow at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens on the Conconully Highway. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is caring for the arrangements.
