Obituary: Fern Rica Pickett
Fern Rica Pickett, 88, of Omak died June 29, 2012 at Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak. Fern was born July 30, 1923 in Ingomar, Mont., to Leonard Raymond Evrett and Bertha Amelia Voltmer.
Fern attended school in Chelan and graduated High School there.
She married Melvin Hansen on July 17, 1940 and they had a daughter named Phyllis. Fern later married Roscoe Colborne Pickett and they adopted a son, Daniel Evrett Pickett. Along with being a wonderful mother and homemaker, Fern worked as an apple packer for 50 years up and down the valley.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, genealogy, and animals (especially dogs).
Fern was a proud member of the L.D.S. church for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roscoe; daughter, Phyllis; granddaughter, Colleen; and brother, Bud Evrett. She is survived by two sisters, Treva McNeil of Wenatchee and Joanne Pace of Omak; son, Daniel Pickett of Omak; granddaughter, Deedra Lawless; two great-grandsons, Derek and Kameron Vandergrind; and great-granddaughter, Kiera Carver.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the L.D.S Church in Omak. There will be a brief visitation starting at 10 a.m. at the Church prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at the Okanogan City Cemetery and then all are invited back to the church for a luncheon to share stories and memories.
