Obituary: Louis (Louie) Wood
Louis (Louie) Wood, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Louie was born July 7, 1934, to his parents, Walter and Alma Wood in Omak, Wash.
After graduating from Okanogan High School in 1953, Louie served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Upon return, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Hermanson, on Nov. 3, 1956. Louie's career included many jobs in the Okanogan area including driving school bus, which he loved. Louie concluded his career serving as Okanogan Fire Chief.
He was an involved and dedicated member of the Okanogan Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis and the Okanogan Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, where he extended his love for his community in many ways.
Louie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorie; son, Dan Wood (Cathy) Omak, Wash.; son, Chris Wood (Cindy) Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Ann
Featherly (Todd) Okanogan, Wash.; grandson, Eric Wood (Jennifer); great- grandchildren, Joseph, Cohen and Tyce all of Walla Walla, Wash.; grandson, Josh Wood (Christine) Chehalis, Wash.; grandson, Ryan Wood (Kendra) Prosser, Wash.; grandson, Nick Wood, Spokane, Wash.; grandson, Matt Featherly, Okanogan, Wash.; granddaughter, Megan Featherly, Okanogan, Wash.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brothers, Norman, Don, Roy and Harold (Babe) Wood.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, Okanogan Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be made to the Okanogan Presbyterian Church (Floor fund).
