Obituary:Karl Johnson
Karl Johnson passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Okanogan, Wash. He was born July 31, 1923, in Sunnyside, Wash. to Aaron and Emma (Nelson) Johnson, He was 89 years young.
Karl moved from Sunnyside, Wash. with his family at the age of 12 to Twisp, Wash. There he worked on the family ranch with his dad and granddad.
Karl was very active his whole life. Karl and his son, Bob, owned and operated Johnson’s Backhoe Service; they were very busy for 17 years. Karl loved to garden. You could find him out pulling weeds and tending to the vegetables up until two weeks before his passing away.
Karl also enjoyed the outdoors. You could find him hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors with his family for the last several years.
He was 88 years old when he shot his last four-point buck with his bow.
He married Edna Mae Burns on March 5, 1945. In that marriage came five children, Bill (Kathy) Johnson of Riverside, Sharon (Bill) Lester of Port Orchard, Bunny (JC) Johnson of Brewster, Bob (Gwen) Johnson of Brewster, and Laurie (AC) Morgan of Okanogan. He has seven grandsons, 7 granddaughters, five great-grandsons and nine great-granddaughters. He also is survived by his brother, Donnie of Omak; his sisters, Dorthy (Eldon) Haines of Olympia, and Vera Boughman of Yakima; his sister-in-law, Marie Long of Chelan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae; parents, Aaron and Emma Johnson; and his brothers, Melvin, Clarence, Dale and Dave.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at the Church of Christ in Pateros, Wash.
Burial will follow at the Pateros Cemetery.
