Bobbi Jo Cotter, AKA Roberta June Ueland, entered this world Sept. 22, 1953, in Oregon City, Ore., and flew to heaven April 6, 2013.
Throughout her childhood her family moved all over the Pacific Northwest, including: Portland, Echo, Arlington, Newport, and they finally settled in Camas, Wash. She attended Camas High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, William Dean Songer. They married in 1971 and had three children, Brandy, John and Sonny. Bobbi Jo worked in various waitressing jobs in the Portland area such as Jubitz. She later divorced and moved to Riverside, Wash., where she made new friends that turned out to be family.
Bobbi Jo worked at the local Quick Stop in Omak, and later at the Omak Chronicle. Bobbi Jo’s house in Riverside became the second home to many of the Riverside kids (AKA “Riverrats”), and they thought of her as their second mom. When Bobbi Jo turned 41, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Frank Cotter. They married December 12, 1994 and they resided in Okanogan till her passing. Bobbi Jo looked at the world with the wonder of a child. She had a great sense of humor and was always the first to start a food fight. She loved to travel, read, cook/bake, crochet/sew, yard sale, garden, art/crafts, puzzles, visit friends, and she was a member of the Red Hat Society. She always went out of her way for her friends. Her lifelong friends were Marylyn Hemingway and Sonja Wengel. Her laughter and quirky personality will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Betty Jean (Stalkup) Ueland; her grandparents, Melvin Sr. and Sarrah Jane Sofia “Fye” (Wilkinson) Ueland, Mary (Kolb) Guiles, and Frank Stalkup; her aunt, Ione Wilkinson; her niece, Lori Anna Ueland; and her brothers, Joseph Raymond Hall, Thomas Lawrence Stillings, and Robert Lee Ueland.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Cotter; her children, Brandy Rai Ueland-Hall, John Morris, Delfina Morris, and Sonny Morris; her sisters, Rae Ellen Stillings, and Roseann Hall; her grandchildren, Britney Eve Haven, Keeley-Shaye Sophia Morris, Tyler John Morris, Tasha Morris, Jaime Kloth, and Zendreaux Moon Bright; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her dog, Rowdy.
Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on Elmway in Okanogan. A graveside memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Bobbi Jo suffered for 17 years from COPD, so the family would like any donations to be made in her honor to the American Lung Association.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel and the Okanogan Co. Crematory LLC are in care of the arrangements.
