Mary Alice Webster, 89, a 60-year resident of Okanogan County, passed away in Okanogan on April 17, 2013.
Mary was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Branson, Mo., to Jesse and Ester Campbell. She had eight sisters and one brother. She attended the Victor School in Branson, a one room school house where she graduated 8th grade.
On March 7, 1944 she married James Ralph Webster. They had a daughter, Sharon, and a son, Walter. In 1953, they moved the family to Washington. Mary worked various jobs until she was hired as a housekeeper at Mid-Valley Hospital in 1970. She retired from the hospital around 1991. She went back to work managing the Morningside Apartments until 2000, when she finally retired for good at the age of 76.
Mary was known for being self-sufficient, outspoken, and having a strong work ethic. She was generous and helped many people throughout her life, especially her family. Mary was an avid reader and loved to go fishing. She also loved to grow roses and take trips to the ocean.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sharon Webster, of Omak; son, Walt Webster and daughter-in- law, Sue Webster of Okanogan; sisters, Pearl Crossler of East Wenatchee, Faye Hill of Missouri and Jesse Lincoln of Missouri; granddaughters, Brenda Wehmeyer of Omak, Penny Weekly of Omak, and Stacy (Joe) Clough of Okanogan; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1989; her parents; one brother; and five sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. A graveside service with follow at the Riverside Cemetery.
