Byron L. (Bud) Valliant was born May 29, 1927 to John and Ethel Valliant in South Dakota. He was the seventh of eight children. He died Nov. 2, 2013, in Moses Lake, Wash.
Bud, as he was known, was a longtime resident of Arlington where he was a carpenter by trade until he retired from the Arlington School District. The school district purchased their home and property in 1992 and they moved to Omak, Wash. After retirement, he enjoyed camping and fishing the lakes in Eastern Washington. Bud and his wife, Freda, traveled all over the United States until illness forced him into a care facility in Moses Lake.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; six older brothers; his son, Gary Valliant; great-grandson, Parker Valliant; and great-great-grandson, Nathaniel Watkins.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Freda; his sons, Dale Valliant and Ray (Shelby) Valliant; step-children, Curtis (Olivia) Patch, John (Margo) Patch, Doris Higginbotham and Irene Hamilton; as well as 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his younger sister, Carol Adams.
Bud had a large, loving family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial will be held in late spring.
