The family of our beloved Sigrid A. Olson is sad to announce her passing on Oct. 17, 2013.
She was one of 13 children born to Nels and Johanna Olson on April 20, 1920, in Superior, Wis.
She attended Waino Grade School and graduated from Waino High School. After graduation, she married and had six children, whom she raised and loved unconditionally.
She loved to cook, bake, and garden. In her 50s she taught herself to knit beautiful sweaters and afghans for family and amazed all with her artistic designs.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Sigrid MacKay, Lynnwood, and her children, Patrick, Mark, Neil (Leeza), Elizabeth (Gary), and Joseph; Sharon Pittman (Donne), Mukliteo, and their children, Douglas (Julie), Diana (Scott), Daniel, Dale (Tanna), Kooros (Maria), and Donovan; Max Minahan (Sheri), Marysville, and their children, Melissa, and Shannon; Sandy Bain, Omak, and her daugther, Jessica, and Sandy’s adopted daughter, Amanda; James Minahan, Bellingham; and Michael Minahan (Mercedes), Seattle, and their daughter, Lucia.
Sigrid has 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Hill, Minnesota, and Olive Kronberg, Superior, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three grandsons, David Pittman (Sharon), Phillip Daughtery (Patricia), and Jeffrey Jay Massey (Sandra); brothers, Carl, Henry, Albin, and Conrad; and two infant brothers, both named Arthur; and sisters, Edwarda ‘Vida’ Olson, Clara Olson, Nellie Sarkkinen, and Millie Hill.
Sigrid ‘Siggie’ was known as the sweetest and kindest person by all who knew her, and loved and adored by her family and many friends.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on Elmway in Okanogna. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel and Okanogan Co. Crematory of Okanogan are caring for the arrangements.
