Karen Kay Burkett, 60, of Tonasket, Wash. died Jan. 8, 2014 after a long illness.
She was born in Kansas City, Kans., to Pat and Billy Barrett Aug. 9, 1953. Karen lived many years with her grandparents Myrtle and Robert Carnahan.
Karen married Loie Wayne Burkett Feb. 18, 1984 in Marysville, Calif.
Karen loved Jesus and looked forward to being with Him. She enjoyed caring for her husband, Wayne, and was known for her friendliness and love for others. Karen loved animals and believed one of her main purposes in life was to care for them. During her lifetime she was a bartender, housekeeper, saw mill worker, painter and sang for many years in a band.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Robert Davis, Richard Davis and Ginger Dent; mother, Pat; foster daughter, Cindy Maxwell; and several grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Kathy Kempter, Debbie Hodges, Ricky Barrett and Billy Barrett.
A memorial service will be1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18 at Tonasket Free Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Tonasket Water Slides.
