Donald Ray Arbogast
Blanche LaDell Arbogast
On Oct. 11, 2016, Donald “Don” Ray Arbogast, 89, was ushered into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ to be with Him forever. Don was born to Harrison Hart Arbogast and Saloma Ann (King) on June 30, 1927, in West Liberty, Ohio. Dad grew up to be honest and professional with everyone he met and humble in everything he accomplished. He quietly loved his family.
On Nov. 6, 2017, Blanche LaDell (Barrett) Arbogast, 91, was ushered into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ to be with Him forever. Blanche was born to Jesse Charles Barrett and Margaret (Palmer) on April 2, 1926, in Brady, Wash. Mom grew up to be a beautiful woman with a caring and helpful heart. Her home was always neat and clean and filled with a warmth that lulled you as soon as you entered. Her kitchen was the place to be.
Don and Blanche were surrounded by their loving family as they went to the Lord. Don went first and waited for Granny, as he lovingly called her. And wait he did, Granny made him wait just a little over a year before joining him. Blanche’s sharp, quick, loving wit will be remembered by all that knew her.
Don and Blanche met in Twisp, Wash., and were married on April 4, 1972, in Okanogan Wash., where they soon made their home. Don worked for the Forest Service and Blanche made a beautiful home for Don to come home to. After Don retired, they spent many winters down in the warm southwest and traveled many of the states. They had fun together and made many friends along the way.
Don brought four grown children James, Mickey, Sherry and Gloria to the union. Blanche brought two grown children Douglas Demmitt, Konnie (Demmitt) Cowen and one teenager, Talana (Demmitt) Lay, whom Don helped Blanche raise. Don and Blanche were blessed with 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grand children, and six great-great grandchildren. They were preceded in death by Doug, Konnie and Sherry. All are dearly missed until we meet again.
The family would like to deeply thank friend Sharon Barrett for the love she poured upon Mom while Mom was in her care. Mom loved Sharon. Mom was well loved and pampered by Sharon. Without Sharon, Mom would not have been able to live at home her last months. Sharon, thank you with love.
A graveside service will be held for Don, Blanche and their son-in-law Robert Lay, at Beaver Creek Cemetery, Twisp, on May 19, 2018, at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at their granddaughter, Ellie Lay Swartsel’s residence near Omak. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel and the Okanogan County Crematory are caring for the arrangements.
