Eugene Agapith, 72, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 21, 2017 in Spokane, Wash. Born Sunday, July 22, 1945 in Nespelem, Wash. to Oscar Agapith and Sarah Jack, Eugene received his A.A. Degree following graduation from high school. During the Vietnam Conflict, Eugene was proud to serve four years as a “Sky Soldier” with the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. A proud member of the Colville Confederated Tribes. Eugene loved spending time amongst cattle and horses as a laborer/cowboy at stockyards as well as competing as a bull rider. When not personally attempting to achieve the perfect 100 bull riding score. Eugene attended rodeo events whenever possible. An avid Seahawks fan - Eugene never missed a game. He created beautiful beadwork and leather-craft, also loved hot fry bread and enjoyed visiting the casino.
Predeceased by both of his parents; granddaughter, Althea Nayeli Agapith; sister, Hazel Agapith; and brother, Squires Agapith.
Eugene’s legacy lives on through his children, Bernadette Frances Agapith, Genie Agapith (Shay) and Carla Agapith; grandchildren, Melissa Wapato, Izaiah Salcedo, Alicia Frielander, Durrell Agapith, Ryan Agapith, Marianna Agapith and Jaylyn Agapith; brother, Emmett Agapith; sisters, Marcia Agapith-Johns, Jonnalu Agapith and Beverly; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Eugene’s services took place Saturday morning, Nov. 25, 2017 in the Nespelem Community Center. Burial ceremonies followed at the Little Nespelem, Cemetery.
