Robert “Bob” Preston Watkins passed away July 12, 2018, at Regency in Omak, Wash. Bob was born to Josephine and Arlis Watkins Oct. 1, 1958, in Omak.
Bob graduated from Omak High School in 1977.
While growing up, Bob loved to go fishing with his dad. Bob worked for the Omak Chronicle for 19 years, until his health no longer allowed him to be employed.
Bob was active in Special Olympics, SPIN (Serving People in Need) and was also an Omak Kiwanian.
Bob’s favorite pastime was making wooden toys with his best friend, Wally Richards and the Key Club, to give away at Christmas with the Kiwanis’ food baskets. Bob will always be remembered for his community service. He also attended Corner Stone Christian Fellowship.
Some very wonderful people, Wally and Libby Richards and their families entered Bob’s life and became very close friends. Bob’s family wishes to thank the Richards for their love and support of Bob.
Bob is survived by his sister, Linda S. Larson, of Spokane, Wash.; brother, John “Tim” (Tammy) Watkins, of Omak; several nieces, nephews, cousins; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arlis and Josephine Watkins; and one great-nephew.
A graveside service will be at 9 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, in Okanogan Memorial Gardens. A barbecue will follow at the Eastside Park covered horseshoe pit, Bob’s favorite place to a SPIN BBQ. Come join us and celebrate Bob’s life.
