John L. Skelton, 83, died Feb. 15, 2018, at his home in Omak, Wash.
He was born July 13, 1934, in Okanogan, Wash., to Lance F. and Vera B. Skelton.
He graduated from Okanogan High School in 1952 and joined the U.S. Army in December of 1953.
John married Bonnie Crofoot in 1958. They had two sons, Clint and Brad. They were divorced in 1965.
On March 7, 1981, John married Dorothy Heath.
John worked in the logging industry, in the woods and driving log truck. He also hauled livestock for a number of years. In 1985, he bought his first cows eventually putting together a small herd.
In 1996, he leased a ranch and raised his cows and raised hay. The cows were eventually sold but he continued to raise hay for sale.
He survived by his wife, Dottie; his brothers, Roy (Mick) and Ron; his sons, Clint (Kim) and Brad (Katie); his grandchildren, Cole (Erin), Hillary (Cameron), Paige (Brian), Brooke (Sebastian) and Katelyn; his great-grandchildren, Crew, Haven, Grant, Cody and Shay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Merle, Eva and Enid; and his brothers, Harlan and Wilbur.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Okanogan Eagles. A potluck dinner will follow the service.
