On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, Robert George Laws, 59, passed away at his home in Okanogan, Wash.
Bob was born in Spokane, Wash., April 24, 1959 to Bill and Rosie Laws of Okanogan. He graduated from Pateros High in 1977 and received his bachelor’s degree in English from Eastern Washington University in 1982. He earned his MS in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida and his MS in Global Supply Chain Management at the University of Alaska in Anchorage.
Bob served as an aviator and offi cer in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 2004, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Th e squadron he served in as a navigator was recognized for their outstanding performance in the Strategic Air Command’s 1989 Bomb Competition. After retiring from the Air force, he taught English for the Omak schools.
Bob loved to read, fi sh, and spend time with his family and his dog, Woody. He was a spirited debater and enjoyed endless conversation with his students, friends, and family.
He is survived by parents, Bill and Rosie; sons, Ryan and John, daughter-in-law Tomoko; sister, Suzie, brother-in-law Paul; and former spouse, Karen. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Bill, in June 2004.
A service for Bob will be announced at a later date.
