Ruby Elizabeth Field, 101, passed away at Regency Harmony House in Brewster, Wash., Nov. 19, 2018. She was born April 18, 1917 in Molson, Wash. and lived her early years in Havillah, Wash. After attending school in Havillah, she married Loy Gates. Later in 1945, she married again to Clarence Field and moved to Chesaw, Wash. There she worked very hard raising children and helped to run the ranch. Moving to Omak in 1957, she continued the ranch life. Ruby always had a very large garden. She milked dairy cows every night and morning. She helped in the fields along with cooking, cleaning, raising children, preserving food, and anything else that needed to be done. She also worked packing apples in the fall for many years. In later life she enjoyed bowling with friends and family. Ruby moved to Regency Harmony House in 2011 where she received excellent care for the remainder of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Emily Wildermuth; sister, Florence Lehmann; brother, Gilbert Wildermuth; husbands, Loy Gates, Clarence Field and Charles Farren; son, Gene Gates; and great-granddaughter, Alexsandra Vazquez. She is survived by daughters, Ilene Hirst of Ephrata, Wash., and Nellie Kirk of Tonasket, Wash., sons, Rudy Gates and Bill Gates of Omak; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
