Grand marshals for this year’s Omak Stampede grand parade will be 16 members of the Omak Stampede Hall of Fame, according to parade director Connie Thomas.
Thomas said the entire hall of fame will be honored at this year’s rodeo.
Living hall of fame members include Deb Copenhaver, Jim Lewis, Bunny DeTro, Ed Thiele, Homer Carter, Hoagy Shattuck, Irving Sasse, Donna Short, Bert Beeman, Karmen Beeman, Edie Longfellow, Marj Knowlton, Sandy Thomas, Jani Glover, Ed Parker and Diana Parker.
“We’re honoring them because of the dedication they put into the event for the past 75 years and without them it wouldn’t have been going for as long as it has,” Thomas said.
The grand marshals will be honored at several functions, including the Omak Chamber of Commerce-Stampede luncheon at noon Aug. 5 in East Side Park and at the Stampede’s kick-off party Aug. 6.
They will ride in a float in the grand parade Aug. 10 and will be recognized at a luncheon after the parade at the Omak Elks Lodge.
