County teams nab seconds at Hoopfest
     At least four Okanogan County teams finished second at the Hoopfest 3-on-3 basketball tournament June 30 to July 1 in Spokane.
     Team O Town, with Tara Marchand from Okanogan and Omak’s Brooke Springer, Hannah Hahn and Trisha Jack, finished second in its bracket for high school girls under 5-5 in grades 11 or 12 (07-08 year).
     Also taking second was Flight Zone, with Rylan Springer, Omak, along with Jake Buchholz, Spokane, and Asya Morioka and Jackson Marquis of Yakima. They competed in grade 9-10 for those under six feet.
     Omak Pro-Stitch finished second to Three Six O. Pro-Stitch topped Three Six O on the winners’ side, then fell twice to the Three Six O in championship games.
     Pro-Stitch, which included Chase LaMoreaux and Robert Pendergraft from Brewster and Cody Peone from Inchelium, competed in a men’s open recreation bracket.
     Omak’s Dimeriz, with Dashawn Bedford, Joseph Tonasket, Justin Tonasket and Preston Wynne, went 4-2 and finished second to Hoop Hearted Avery.
     Other teams included:
     Omak Basketball, with Austin Baker, CJ Lockwood, Jake Martin and Justin Dibble, reached the semi-finals, lost to the Benchwarmers, fell into the consolation bracket and beat High Five Pancake before falling to Puyallup Knights.
     The Knights eliminated the Benchwarmers before falling to Elephant Ears.
     Omak’s Rebs, with Bethany Schreiber, Chandler Smith, Kailey Harris and Lindsey Hughes, went 1-2.
     Omak’s Pendos Pound, with Carly Harris, Mariah Priest and Meka Townsend, went 4-2 before being eliminated by Hermiston, Ore.
     Omak Warriors, with Frank Seymour, Kerry Carden, Kevin Palmanteer and Zek Domebo, went 0-2.
     Them Omak Girls, with Hailey Chaney, Johnny McCraigie, Shalena Bent and Shawnee Covington, reached the quarterfinals before finishing 2-2. Ephrata Heat, which eliminated Them Omak Girls, fought back to finish second.
     Sweetness Tonasket, with A.J. Nelson, Danny Tonasket, Greg Avden and Joey Tonasket, went 3-2. Both of the team’s losses were to teams that met in the championship.
     Tonasket Ten, with Austin Olma, Brandon Wahl, Bryce Johnson and Justin Mann, went 1-2.
     Nespelem Savages, with Coby Dick, David Dick, Gabe Caye and Moses Pierre, finished 1-2.
     Brewster Boys, with Cade Smith, Josh Hammons, Luke Divis and Michael Hollenback, finished 0-2. The team then finished second in a four-team consolation bracket tournament.
