Winds could not keep hydroplanes off Lake Pateros for long Aug. 25-26 during the 15th annual Tacoma Inboard Racing Association Pateros Hydro Classic.
“We did have some wind delays, but the only heats not to get off were two heats on Sunday,” said scorer/secretary Sue Troxell.
Racing got started about an hour and half late on Saturday but when the wake settled only one heat had not been run.
The race was made up first thing Sunday, said Troxell, who said Sunday races got started early.
This year’s race included a ton of sponsors, said Troxell.
“Julie Porter hustled all the sponsors for us and did a lot of leg work over at Pateros to put on the race,” she said.
Next year’s races tentatively are scheduled a week earlier than normal in August because national races are scheduled at the end of August.
Troxell said this year’s racing included a lot of close competition with no spills.
