County’s own top-ranked clown/barrelman returns for Pro-West Rodeo finals Sept. 29-30
J.J. (Jason) Harrison, Pro-West contract of the year, will perform in Omak at the Pro-West Rodeo finals Sept. 29-30 in the Omak Stampede arena.
He is scheduled to appear at both performances. Shows start at 1:30 p.m.
Harrison is a 1994 graduate of Okanogan High School and a 1998 graduate of Washington State University. He is the son of Peg Callaway and Chris Culp, Omak.
He has become a sought-after Northwest rodeo clown/barrelman, according to an announcement about his appearance.
He has performed in more than 50 rodeo performances in 2007 with PRCA, NPRA and Pro-West rodeo organizations, and has been twice named barrelman of the year.
Harrison also is in contention for the 2008 award.
He is best known for his high energy, family-oriented humor, interaction with the crowd and hilarious antics and dancing, according to the announcement.
When not appearing as a barrelman/clown, Harrison works as dean of students in one of the area high schools in Walla Walla, where he lives with his wife, Melissa.
“I am really anxious to do this rodeo performance with a hometown crowd and look forward to seeing a lot of friends,” said Harrison. “Most of my former teachers will recognize my antics. Hope to see all of you there with the family.”
A free concert with area youth will precede the Saturday performance. Performers will be Okanogan Valley Nashville Stars contestants, produced by Ed Lisenbey and Entertainment Extravaganza.
The concert will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Before both performances Harrison and the Pro-West barrelmen will be on hand to autograph and give away free Frisbees and footballs to kids.
     Announcer will be Al Parson.
Ticket price is $5 with kids 10 and younger admitted free. Free tickets can be picked up at local schools or are available before the performances at the concert, according to the announcement.
