The Tonasket High School softball team earned its first win of the season March 14 by topping Okanogan.
Down 10-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tigers scored six runs and beat Okanogan 11-10 in a Caribou Trail League game in Tonasket.
With the score tied at 10, Dana Pryor stole home on a passed ball to give the Tigers the victory.
Anna Berg, Jessica Rhodes, Meghan Newton and Rachel Arlotta all had RBI singles in the seventh for the Tigers, who responded with the victory after losing 20-1 to Omak March 11.
“It was a heck of a game,” said coach Dave Shaw. “We got hits when we needed them and the middle and bottom of the order really came through for us and that was great.”
Okanogan scored four runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh to take a 10-5 lead.
“Their pitchers melted down in the final inning and we were able to take advantage of it,” said Shaw.
Berg finished 3-5 with two runs scored, Arlotta had two hits and 2 RBI and Pryor added two runs to lead Tonasket.
Shaw said he hopes the team’s success carries over since the Tigers have a difficult road ahead.
“We have some tough teams coming up with Chelan and Cascade, so it was really good to get this win,” he said. “We’re going to see what our girls are made of.”
