Okanogan graduate JJ (Jason) Harrison recently was featured as a rodeo clown in ProRodeo Sports News Magazine.
The article was titled “8.0 Seconds with JJ Harrison” and was published in the February edition.
Writer Anne Christensen focused on Harrison’s master’s degree and working as the dean of an alternative high school in Walla Walla while clowning almost full time in PRCA and other rodeos.
Harrison has been named NPRA barrelman of the year for the past three years and works more than 50 shows a year throughout the western states. He is best known for his wild antics, energy, dancing and fat suits, according to an announcement about the feature story.
Harrison is one of the most sought-after clowns on the circuit, according to the announcement.
According to the article, “His clowning is ‘all about the kids.’ His focus is to draw kids of all ages out, make them laugh and ensure that the rodeo’s a fun, family affair.”
Harrison and his wife, Melissa, expect their first child in May. She teaches at Walla Walla Community College.
Harrison is the son of Chris Culp and Peg Callaway, Omak.
