Kelly Downey ran down four individual titles for Okanogan in four running events at the Caribou Trail League track championships May 2 at Cashmere High School.
     Downey, a senior, won the 100 (13.51), 200 (27.58), 800 (2:3.74), and 1,600 (5:33.30).
“Winning four events is very difficult, but winning the combination Kelly did last Friday is unheard of,” coach Zach Spaet said.
Jennifer Widell won three field events for Okanogan, which finished second in the team standings only 18 points behind host Cashmere. Okanogan’s boys finished fifth.
Widell won the shot (34-0.5), discus (99-08), and javelin (110-5).
Meka Townsend made it 1-2 in the shot, taking second at 30-10. She was third in the javelin (101-4) and fourth in discus (93-02).
“We are very excited about these two young ladies, especially since one is a sophomore and the other is a freshman,” Spaet said of Widell and Townsend, respectively.
Nadine Downey was fourth in the 800 (2:36.19).
Kristen Elsea was fourth in the 300 hurdles (51.94).
Mindy Widell was sixth in the long jump (14-5).
Okanogan’s relay teams each finished fourth.

For the boys, the 4x100 team of Connor Tupling, Ross Wood, Jed Mintzer and Jerid Peterson finished first in 48.65.
Tupling, Dillan Zunie-Allen, Jerid Peterson and Jovan Lopez finished fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:51.82.
Lopez was fourth in the 300 hurdles (45.71) and fourth in the 110 high hurdles (17.51).
Tupling was fourth in the 100 (12.14).
Ben Navarro was second in the javelin (127-09) and fifth in shot (37-6).
