Donkey basketball bounces into Republic
An annual donkey basketball competition to benefit the Republic girls’ basketball program will be held May 27 at the high school.
The first of three games starts at 5 p.m., with the Republic Fire Department taking on Kinross.
In game two, K-Diamond-K will take on Curlew Job Corps.
Donkey Sports from Entiat will supply the hoop-playing donkeys.
“Donkey Sports officials will be strictly enforcing the rules against the players abusing the donkeys in any way,” girls’ coach Todd Phillips said. “However, there is no rule that applies to donkeys abusing their riders.”
Advance tickets may be purchased from Anderson’s, Eich’s Radio Shack or from coach Phillips at Republic High School.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $7 for students (grades 7-12), $6 for children (K-6).
Buyers can save a dollar by getting tickets in advance.
Children under school age will be admitted free, said Phillips.
