Hornet softball claims first winning season
The Oroville softball team ended the regular season May 8 with a doubleheader sweep of Easton Thorp to earn the District 6 No. 2 seed to the District 6/7 tournament.
The Hornets finished the regular season with a 12-6 record, their first winning season in the history of the sport, Oroville coach Rick Mead said.
Oroville will begin districts May 13 with a loser-out game against Manson (2-16). The Hornets swept Manson 18-14 and 18-3 in a doubleheader earlier in the year.
If Oroville wins, it will play the winner of the Columbia Gorge top seed and Liberty Bell on May 15.
