Tonasket soccer wraps up season in loss to Manson
The Tonasket soccer team saw its inaugural season come to an end May 8 with a 4-0 loss at Manson in a Tri-District 1A/2B game.
The Tigers staved off elimination with a 2-1 win over Bridgeport on May 6.
Sean Timmerman and Santos Alvarez each scored a first-half goal and Tonasket held Bridgeport scoreless in the second half to earn the win.
“It was a very intense game,” coach Chris Field said. “Our defense really stepped it up late and shut them down.”
The Tigers ended the season with a 9-10 record, 5-5 in the Caribou Trail League.
“I think we had a great season considering it was our first year,” Field said. “Most people picked us to be in the basement and we were able to prove a lot of people wrong.”
The team will lose seven seniors but Field said he expects next year to be a competitive season.
“We have a lot of young guys on our team and they’ll have a year under their belt so our future is bright,” he said.
