Barker rides off with horse show honors
Oroville’s Callie Barker cleaned up at the annual North Country Classic June 21-22 at the Okanogan County fairgrounds, according to Lona Fritts.
Barker and her Morgan horse, Thunderstreak, took high point honors in driver, English and youth.
Sally Thurston, Wauconda, took high point award in halter horse with her horse Sunburst Stormwatch.
Spokane’s Piper Bailey took first in high point in Western horse on Maximum Cowboy, owned by Maria Desjardins, reported Fritts.
Fritts acknowledged Maria and Dave Desjardins for all their sponsor support, and Jill Saunders for announcing.
The event has been going about 30 years, since the 1970s, Fritts said. Some 32 horses were entered.
