Two of the men charged with stealing beer, fishing gear and a golf cart and then wrecking the golf cart pleaded guilty to reduced charges in Ferry County Superior Court June 20.
Another juvenile was charged in the case.
The charges stem from a May incident in which a 1998-99 golf cart belonging to Gene and Roberta Weller, and coolers with alcoholic beverages and fishing equipment valued above $250, were reported missing in the Blacks Beach area.
Eric D. Smith, 20, Republic, pleaded guilty to third-degree theft and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for four days served. He also will be responsible for restitution to be determined.
Smith was involved with the theft of coolers, beer and fishing gear, but not with taking the golf cart, according to his attorney.
The charge is a gross misdemeanor, since it involved property valued at less than $250, the attorney said. Smith has no criminal history.
The sentence is to be served by Sept. 30, the court stipulated.
Tyler R. Tachell, 19, Republic, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and to restitution to be set during a hearing July 18.
Tachell told Judge Allen Nielson that he hasn’t smoked or consumed alcohol and that he is participating in an alcohol treatment program.
He is seasonally employed and also needs time to complete his treatment, his attorney told the court.
His jail sentence is set to begin Oct. 5.
James Brocket, 17, Republic, had his case continued until July 18. The judge also denied a request by his mother that he be allowed to associate with his co-defendants.
Justin Griffin, 17, Republic, was charged June 20 with second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission in the case.
He allegedly was involved with the golf cart incident but not with the theft of beer, coolers and fishing gear.
