Tonasket experienced the best of both worlds in Caribou Trail League volleyball play last week - a three-game sweep and a five-set, back and forth thriller.
The Tigers began the week with a 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 victory over visiting Omak on Sept. 30 and ended it with a 25-16, 17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8 win over Cashmere on Oct. 2.
Falisha Laurie converted 13 of 14 serves and handed out 18 assists for the Tigers in their match against the Pioneers (0-7). April Webber was 15-15 serving and Cierra Silverthorn added seven kills for Tonasket.
“The girls controlled the match, kept the ball in play and made the necessary shots,” coach Nellie Kirk said. “It feels really good to win the matches we know we should win.”
Jessica Kitterman was 31-31 serving, Amber Allen had 17 kills and Silverthorn added 10 kills as the Tigers edged the Bulldogs (2-6, 2-5 CTL).
“They came out with confidence in that fifth game and just put them away,” Kirk said.
With the victories, Tonasket improved to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the CTL.
Next up for the Tigers is a home match against league-leading Cascade (7-0) on Oct. 7.
