Omak played Tonasket (4-3, 5-3) close in high school volleyball Sept. 30 before being devoured by league-leading Cascade (7-0, 7-0) last week.
At home against the Tigers, Omak fell 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.
“We played really well, but against Tonasket we just could not close it,” coach Lori Trudeaux said. “We would start playing really good, then get into a rotation where we were not quite there.”
Despite being winless this season, Trudeaux said the girls have good attitudes.
“We are really playing hard, with more girls getting touches on blocks,” she said.
Stats: Yuremi Lopez 8-8 serving, 3 aces, 7 kills, 3 blocks, 10 digs; Kari McKee 9-9 serving, 1 ace, 5 kills; Kristin Roberts 6 kills; Ramsi Marchand 10 digs.
At Cascade Oct. 2, Omak fell 25-4, 25-13, 25-9.
Stats: Lopez 2 kills, 5-5 serving, 7 digs, 2 blocks; Roberts 6-7 serving, 1 ace, 1 kill, 11 dig.
This week, Omak travels to Brewster Oct. 7 and returns home for Lake Roosevelt Thursday, Oct. 9, for a match with an early start time of 4:30 p.m. for junior varsity. The time change is due to three homecoming princesses playing for Omak and expected to be in a homecoming parade that evening.
They include Kelly Tonasket, freshman; Yuremi Lopez, sophomore; and Ramsi Marchand, junior.
“It’s going to be tight,” Trudeaux said of getting the girls to the parade on time.
