Butt Hut hussles to outhouse victories
By Al Camp

Lots of gas and poopers passed through Conconully during the 26th annual Outhouse Races on Jan. 17.
Butt Hut 2 won the people’s choice award and $50.
“They have a place up here;, they had a big crowd,” Conconully Chamber of Commerce President Tom Gibson said.
The Ahinger family donated the prize money back to the chamber of commerce, Gibson said.
Butt Hut 2, with its runners sporting fake buns on their rears, won four events.
Of the 11 entries, Shell Hot Gas slipped and slid to victory twice and The Hawk a Maniacs claimed a win.
Other entries included Horney Moose, Pabst Poo Ribbon, KMA Racing, Buckshot Espresso Beads and Things, Fecal Matters, Dialysis Divas, North End Boys and Groan and Growler.
Gibson said race conditions this year - temperatures around 30 degrees and partly sunny - helped draw a crowd of several hundred.
“It was not nearly as cold as the last couple years when it was 5 to 10 degrees. We had a good turnout of people,” he said.
“I want to thank all our crowd and participants that came to our outhouse races,” Gibson said.
     Results:
Bucket race: The Hawk a Maniacs, Jason Olson, Brandon Bablen and Adam Boehm from Chehalis and Toledo.
Extreme challenge: Butt Hut 2, Bart Broze, Colin Evans, Cory Keches, Bothell and Redmond.
Men’s race: Butt Hut 2, Tracy Morehead, Lakewood; Jim Walsborn, Pendleton, Ore.; and Christian Demouchet, Ellensburg.
Women’s race: Shell Hot Gas, Kim Bird, Okanogan; Kitty Bird, East Wenatchee; Lindsey Bird, Entiat.
Family race: Shell Hot Gas, Kitty Bird, East Wenatchee; Keith Bird, East Wenatchee; Brian Whitley, Okanogan.
Senior race: Butt Hut 2, Jim Walsborn, Pendleton, Ore.; Heidi Evans, Washtucna; Steve Groth, Spokane.
Kids race: Butt Hut 2, Quincy Tappe, Bailey Adams and Ky Adams, all of Spokane.
