REPUBLIC — Darrin Metcalf snatched his sixth consecutive super stock win in the last two laps of Saturday’s main event as a lightning storm moved in on Eagle Track Raceway.
The storm forced the cancellation of the day’s modified main, but Ken Martin in the No. 14 car took first in the fever four main which preceded the super stock event.
Jon Alexander Jr. in the No. 08 super stock car took an early lead and held it through most of the race.
Glen Corfe, Rock Creek, B.C. in the No. 1PAW car gave Metcalf and the Betcher brothers a run for their money holding on to second place for seven laps.
In the eighth lap it was Jack Betcher, Tonasket, in the fastest qualifying No. 11 machine, brother Duane, Riverside,in No. 10 and Metcalf battling for second place.
The Betchers refused to let Metcalf pass, until No. 10 spun out lessening the competition by one.
Metcalf found his way around No. 11 in the 18th lap.
As the rain began to fall, Metcalf made up distance between his No. 11X and Alexander’s No. 08 finally taking the lead in the 24th lap.
Jack in the No. 11 machine also found his way around Alexander, finishing in second with Alexander third, Corfe fourth and Duane still in the money in fifth.
In the fever four main, Greg Hector’s No 87 car, which had the highest time in qualifying laps, led the pack for five laps, spinning out in lap six.
New comer Josh Godes, Colville, in No. 29 spun out in turn two of the first lap and left the track with two flat tires.
Steve Hood, Elmer City, in No. 74 took over the lead and held on to it until the fifteenth lap.
Ken Martin’s No. 14 took the lead in lap 15 as Hood, Elmer City, spun out in turn four.
Goedes returned to the track to finish 11 laps of racing.
