OMAK — Omak volleyball pulled out a hard-fought 3-2 match victory over Tonasket on Oct. 22 behind the serving of libero Ramsi Marchand.
After Tonasket won the first match 25-17, Marchand rallied the Pioneers by serving 12 straight with six aces in a 25-8 Omak win.
The teams went back and forth from there, with Tonasket winning the third game 25-21 and Omak staying alive with a 25-23 win in game four.
In the deciding fourth game, Omak fell behind 7-2 before clawing out a 15-10 victory around 7 p.m. That gave the girls about a half hour to race to the homecoming parade and bonfire that followed.
“We’ve never been able to pull ourselves back from that situation (down in a game) but we did,” coach Lori Trudeaux said. “All the girls stepped up and worked for one point at a time until we reached 15.”
Stats: Yuremi Lopez 5 aces, 12 kills, 3 blocks, 8 digs; Ramsi Marchand 11 aces, 11 digs; Billie Gallagher 3 aces, 3 kills, 8 digs; Jade Sargent 6 aces, 3 kills, 1 block; Courtney Staggs 5 kills, 3 blocks; Kristin Roberts 8 aces, 13 assists, 8 kills, 1 block, 5 digs.
At Cashmere Oct. 20, the Bulldogs stopped Omak 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19.
Stats: Yuremi Lopez 4 aces, 8 kills; Billie Gallagher 2 aces, 2 kills, 1 block, 6 digs; Indra Renteria 3 aces, 5 assists, 2 kills, 3 digs.
Omak closes out the final week of the regular season at Cascade on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and at Brewster on Friday, Oct. 30.
