EPHRATA — A Grant County Jail inmate was found dead in his cell early this morning.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the unnamed inmate’s death, spokesman Kyle Foreman said. The inmate’s age has not been released.

The body was discovered during a routine cell check just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Preliminary evidence indicates the inmate committed suicide, Foreman said.

“Investigators have completed their on scene investigation. We are awaiting the confirmation that the inmate’s family has been notified,” he said. “Once that is confirmed, we will be releasing additional information.”
