LAKEVIEW - A homemade explosive device found along a road Wednesday evening was neutralized by the Richland Police Bomb Squad and Grant County Sheriffís Office.

A passer-by reported a small fire near Division Road North and Moses Lake Avenue Northeast, Sheriffís Office spokesman Kyle Foreman said. Firefighters responded, as did deputies. The explosive device was found at the scene; it had burned but not detonated.

The bomb squad was summoned ìand their members rendered the device safe, Foreman said.

Itís unknown who made the device or what it was intended to damage, he said.
