GRAND COULEE — A Mansfield man’s body was recovered from Banks Lake on Thursday afternoon.

A passer-by reported the body floating in the water near Barker Canyon in northern Grant County about 3:30 p.m..

The body was identified as that of Michael R. Nachtigal, 63, Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman said. There was no evidence of foul play.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit deputies, Grand Coulee Police Department and state Department of Fish and Wildlife agents responded. Nachtigal’s body was recovered around 5:30 p.m.

Foreman said Nachtigal regularly visited that area for recreation.

The Grant County Coroner’s Office staff will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, Foreman said.

Nachtigal’s family has been notified.
