Robbery suspect arrested

Alex Anthony Sanchez

RIVERSIDE — A suspect has been arrested in Monday’s robbery of the Riverside Grocery and assault of its owner.

Oroville resident Alex Anthony Sanchez, 37, was arrested by Oroville police Chief Clay Warnstaff about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2 on suspicion of first-degree robbery in the theft of an estimated $600 from the grocery, 102 N. Main St.

He’s also suspected of assaulting store owner Kim Nagy, Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said.

A video of the robbery, posted on the sheriff’s YouTube channel, generated numerous calls pointing to Sanchez, Rogers said.

He’s also under investigation as a possible suspect in a similar robbery at Dan’s Market in Ellisforde last month, Rogers said.
