RIVERSIDE — The two teenagers charged in the killing of a Tunk Valley resident have been returned from Oregon to stand trial.

Parker M. Bachtold and Shalin E. Alltus, both 16, were extradited to Okanogan County last night, according to the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office.

The two were present for a preliminary hearing this morning in Okanogan County Superior Court in Okanogan.

Visiting Judge John E. Bridges heard the cases and said he had reviewed filing documents and agreed with the probable cause statements.

Both teens are charged as adults with first-degree aggravated murder in the death of Alltus’ uncle, Patrick M. Alltus, first-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm-juvenile in possession of a firearm.

Bail for Bachtold was set at $1 million as Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Branden Platter said Bachtold has a previous criminal background and is considered a flight risk.

“They all are extremely serious charges in this cases,” he said. He is a “serious public safety risk. Not only did he flee the area, but the state.”

Bail for Alltus was lowered from $1 million to $750,000 because she does not have a previous criminal history.

A no contact order was also issued against the co-defendants.

The teens will be arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Superior Court.

A public defender will be issued to both.
