Man arrested after Brewster shooting

BRIDGEPORT - Fire investigators located two bodies inside the rubble of a house fire, according to Douglas County Sheriff Kevin Morris.

"Although the identity of the deceased cannot be positively confirmed until an autopsy is conducted, it is believed the bodies belong to 53-year-old Paul S. Desjardins and his wife, 57-year-old Sandra L. Desjardins," Morris said. "An investigation into the cause and circumstances of the fire is still on going."

Two occupants of the home escaped the blaze, and two other people were initially unaccounted for as of Monday.

The fire was reported at 9:51 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 700 block of Old Highland Orchard Road. Firefighters and deputies responded, but the home burned to the ground.
