OKANOGAN - Out of an abundance of caution and concern over the spread of COVID-19, the Okanogan County Solid Waste Department has announced the closure of the landfill and transfer stations.

Beginning yesterday, March 26, the following changes have be put into place:

• Central Landfill will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Friday  to its contractors and essential business with accounts.  

• Bridgeport Transfer Station will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Friday to its contractors and essential business with accounts.

• Ellisforde Transfer Station will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Thursday to its contractors and essential business with accounts.  

• Twisp Transfer Station will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Thursday to its contractors and essential business with accounts.  

All facilities will be closed to self-haul customers during the stay-at-home mandate.

If residents believe they have an emergency that could cause a dangerous or hazardous situation which could cause harm, call the landfill at 509-422-2602.
