HAVILLAH — A fire that began Wednesday afternoon east of Tonasket was quickly contained.

The Rehmke Road fire was contained Sept. 9 at 164 acres, according to the Northeast Washington Interagency Communications Center. It was initially reported by the agency at 500 acres.

The blaze was reported as a structure fire on McCrarey Lane shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Okanogan County Emergency Services issued a Level 3 (leave now) evacuation order for Howell Canyon and Barker Mountain roads.

Level 1 (advisory) evacuation orders were also issued for McCrarey Lane, Paradise Point Road and Christopher Way.

A report of a separate fire near Havillah Road and Fancher Dam Road was received but was later determined to be smoke from the Rhemke Road blaze.

On Sept. 10, Fire District No. 7 responded to a report of a structure fire on Pharr Road, Riverside.

The blaze was quickly extinguished.
