Volunteers work on Homestream Park.

WINTHROP - An opening celebration for Homestream Park will be Sunday, Oct. 12, at the park in Winthrop.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parking is available at the Winthrop Town Trailhead lot, 504 Highway 20.

The new community gathering place honors the rivers, fish and native people of the Methow Valley, according to Methow arts, which called it a place to pause, reflect and enjoy a floodplain under restoration. Sculptures by Omak artist Smoker Marchand are on display.

Food and beverages will be available.
