OKANOGAN — The 17th annual Autumn Leaf Run drew 71 participants for a cold, cloudy run around town the morning of Sept. 29.
One-mile and 5K distances were offered to runners and walkers who were encouraged to donate canned or boxed foods for the food bank.
Children under 12 received a free T-shirt, while adults could purchase shirts.
Tonya Mathison, Okanogan, placed first in the one-mile run and her 5-year-old daughter, Cumorah Mathison, placed first for youth.
First place youth winner for the 5K run was Leithan Gillespie, 17, Okanogan, and the adult winner was Steve Thompson of Colchester Vt.
First place winners each received five “veggie” dollars, which they could use to purchase fruits and veggies at the Okanogan Valley Farmers Market.
Ten drawing winners each received five “veggie” dollars. Drawing winners were Jackie Wiman, Aaron Dickenson, Jenni Cox, Erin Speiser, Morgan Casino, Gordon Bayes, Audrey Dickenson, Benjamin Barton, Heather Brownlee and Tucker Andres.
“This race, along with all of the events we host throughout the year, are made possible by the Omak Fit 4 Life Coalition’s sponsors of the annual Orchards in Bloom 10K and half marathon fundraising event hosted in April,” said Omak Fit 4 Life Coalition Director Aliya Quidwai.
