Community foundation gives grants

WENATCHEE - Several local groups will receive grants from the Community Foundation of North Central Washington.

The group recently awarded $240,455 in grants to 30 non-profit groups across the region. The grants were funded by the Regional Impact Grant and Partners in Giving programs.

The competitive grant program supports charitable organizations in Okanogan, Douglas and Chelan counties.

Twenty-five organizations will participate in Give NCW, an online crowd funding campaign running from Thanksgiving through Dec. 31.

Grant recipients include Artist Trust, $5,000 for professional development for artists in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties; Hearts Gathered, $8,000 for general support of the Okanagan Salish immersion Montessori school; Okanogan County Child Development Association, $11,500 to purchase and implement updated fiscal and human resources systems software; Okanogan County Community Action Council, $10,000 for a program to help individuals maintain health and reduce emergency visits, and Okanogan Land Trust, $4,000 for the OkaKnowledgy educational lecture series.

Several other recipients’ programs extend into Okanogan County.
