OMAK – Pioneer Players, the drama club at Omak High School, will present “The Curious Savage” in November.
The play follows an elderly widow, Mrs. Savage, who inherits $10 million when her husband dies. She has her own ideas about how to use the money to create good in the world – she wants to give it all away so people can pursue their “foolish dreams” – but her stepchildren, worried about losing their legacy, commit her to a sanatorium.
Their reasoning is the facility, the Cloisters, will bring her to her senses. At the Cloisters, she meets a variety of so-called misfits – men and women who don’t fit the mold of “normal” life.
Mrs. Savage believes she can help and resolves to spend the rest of her life there.
The show features some 20 students on stage and behind the scenes.
The play, by award-winning playwright John Patrick, will be staged at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17. Admission will be charged; children under 12 will be admitted free.
