OMAK — Maria Landin has won a $500 scholarship from W.O.W., a group of local women interested in promoting education and the Wenatchee Valley College at Omak Foundation.

The scholarship goes to a woman studying in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“Winning this scholarship would make it easier for me to reach my goals,” Landin wrote in her application. “I have always wanted a good education. Education is not cheap, but it is a great investment and I am worth this investment.”

Landin’s long-term goals include transferring to Washington State University after graduating from Wenatchee Valley College-Omak and majoring in accounting and electrical engineering.
