Representatives of the Okanogan Kiwanis Club and Okanogan city government dedicate a new slide Nov. 12 in Alma Park. The slide replaces a decades-old metal slide that had become unsafe and was hot during the summer. President Joe Simonsen said the slide fits with how Kiwanis wants to improve and enhance the lives of children. Sales of berries and pancakes paid for the project, with the city also contributing. Mayor Jon Culp said the city appreciates Kiwanis helping the community. The dedication group includes (on ladder, from bottom to top) Kiwanians Richard Johnson, Harlan Warner, Bob Shacklett and Bob Chiles, City Councilman Wayne Turner, Kiwanian Dee Wood; and (front, from left) Kiwanis President Joe Simonsen and Mayor Jon Culp.
