OMAK — The city and other groups have approved a memorandum of agreement for operation of the 2018 Omak Stampede.

The city council approved the agreement during its Feb. 20 meeting.

The agreement involves the city, Omak Stampede Inc., the Colville Confederated Tribes, Owners and Jockeys Association and the Omak Stampede Indian Encampment Committee for operation of the Aug. 9-12 rodeo and associated events in East Side Park.

The only changes is that Horseshoe Park will be occupied by the Owners and Jockeys Association instead of Omak Stampede Inc.

In other business, the council:

-Approved extension of the garbage collection contract with Sunrise Disposal through February 2012. Rates will be adjusted in accordance with the western urban consumer price index.

A contract increase of 2.3 percent began Feb. 16.

-Approved purchase of a 2018 Dodge Charger to replace a 2017 model police car that was destroyed in a vehicle accident earlier this year. The new vehicle will cost $33,077. The city received $27,288.48 from its insurance carrier.

-Adopted the shoreline section update to the comprehensive plan and added a shoreline master program section to the city code.

-Amended street, library and garbage fund portions of the 2018 budget.

-Appropriated money from the equipment rental fund for purchase of the new patrol car.
